From letters

Leonard Deutsch developed a technique called “guided sight reading” where the piano student would be sight-reading the music (reading and playing) while the teacher plays the same thing (on a nearby piano or perhaps on the same piano at a higher register) with the student.  He reported very good results for students learning piano.

Submission Form of Language Bridge Technology to the

      Project 10100

http://www.project10tothe100.com/

10.       What one sentence best describes your idea? (maximum 150 characters)

The Language Bridge Technology makes a superior English learning environment available to one billion adult learners of the English language - employees of the Global economy.

 11.              Describe your idea in more depth. (maximum 300 words)

The patented Language Bridge Technology (LBT) provides a multimedia, multisensory, constant interactivity, and personalized learning environment.  LBT teaches phrases through a no-grammar, no-memorization approach that can turn any adult into a language prodigy.  LBT is adaptable – the learning environment can be the classroom or the car, online or offline.  Implemented LBT could allow learning of English in any country in the world – and four times faster than by any other conventional method.   It could be localized to all the major languages of the world.  It could be supplemented with a concise version of the program on any PDA, Smartphone or MP3 player.  The fully-functioning prototypes of LBT  are created for Chinese, Spanish and Russian speakers and could be provided for evaluation.

In this global economy, especially in countries such as China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Mexico – to name but a few – knowledge of English can be the deciding factor in finding a better job or getting a promotion. The majority of  adult learners encounter great difficulties in acquiring English, due to cross-translation problems.  LBT  helps adults in overcoming cross-translation and forming in the brain an English language speech center, independent of the native language speech center.  The Language Bridge program would be welcomed by millions of eager learners as a short cut to achieving their goal of speaking English fluently – and they could do it for free and in one quarter of the time.

The proposed  system is flexible; it could be commercialised as a free Google Application.  The system would have a tremendous impact on the understanding between nations.  Not only is knowledge of English a must in the global economy, but it also inevitably results in a better understanding of American culture; young people will develop a more favorable attitude towards America and its culture.

 12.       What problem or issue does your idea address? (maximum 150 words)

·                     Most language books are written by linguists for linguists. It is very difficult for linguists to understand the difficulties non-linguists have in learning a language. They cannot understand that what was easy for them to learn is extremely difficult for others. LBT is created for others.

·                     The majority of adults consider themselves as language-incapable because conventional methods based on memorization and grammar rarely give the desired results. Language Bridge uses simultaneous repetition that ensures turning off cross-translation and formation of an English language speech center in the brain.

·                     In LBT a student integrates with the language, listening and imitating rather than learning from theory. He or she spends the major portion of the time talking in the English language. LBT implemented as Google application would allow English to be learned online or off line, in the car or using one’s PDA, Smartphone or MP3 player.

13.       If your idea were to become a reality, who would benefit the most and how? (maximum 150 words)

·                     Millions of USA immigrants struggling with the language barrier and unable to get a better job would benefit from this Application.

·                     By 2025 the number of English-speaking Chinese is likely to exceed the number of native English speakers in the rest of the world. Chinese adults, along with all other citizens of the Global economy who need English language skills to get promotion or a better position, would benefit mostly.  They would save somewhere from a few hundred to a few thousands dollars each – the average cost of learning English in most countries.

·                     The USA would benefit from this application by and large since an understanding of English leads to a better understanding of the culture.

·                      LBT would inevitably change the way foreign languages are learnt in the world. Transition to the new methodology would be facilitated by the great success of Google Learn English Application.

14.       What are the initial steps required to get this idea off the ground?
(maximum 150 words)

·                     LBT does not require proof of concept and could be implemented with a rather modest investment. The fully functioning prototypes of LBT are created for Chinese, Spanish and Russian speakers and could be provided for evaluation.

·                     The detailed description of LBT is available too.

·                     The Google team may use the existing prototypes to convert them into commercial products localized for a number of major languages of the world.

·                     The Google team may develop additional components to the proposed LBT:

o                  Adding new lessons to the existing software thus expanding it to cover some vocational aspects of the Google Learn English program.

o                  Organize Live Chat groups of professionals and volunteers helping
the Global customers to enroll and master this superior method of learning English.

o                  To modify the current LBT testing module so it could be used in all major languages of the world.

15.       Describe the optimal outcome should your idea be selected and successfully implemented. How would you measure it? (maximum 150 words)

·                     Learning English in one quarter of the time will not only save money and time but also opens new ways of learning foreign languages in the world. The better we know other languages and cultures, the better is understanding between all nations of the world.

·                     Millions of young adult learners in the world will develop a more positive attitude towards the USA.  They will buy American products more eagerly and they will be able to understand another point of view.

·                     Google requires login and will provide quantitative data how many millions of customers are using the Learn English application to achieve their goal – to speaking English fluently and being able to  play a more active and conscientious  role in shaping the future of the global economy and society.
